Our wedding was amazing. We were gifted with the most beautiful day and got to spend it with the most beautiful people. Tuck's Point was a shining example of a perfect place to have a wedding. Our parents looked and felt wonderful. Our wedding party were joyous, playful, and so incredibly helpful. Everyone had a wonderful time eating, drinking, talking, and dancing.
After months of planning and Bruce's excellent organization, the day went off without a hitch! We got to the venue at 8:30 am with bagels and coffee to set up the event. Friends and family helped us set up and prep for days before wrapping lights in tulle and cutting out the hundred and twenty seating cards. The tulle was swaged in the chowder house with finesse by the ladies, while the tables were moved, placed, and draped in blue and white gingham by the boys. Andrea had stenciled 12 dozen champagne flutes in the weeks before as favors and glasses for the toast (roast). Cathy had designed the seating cards. All of the ladies set them out so perfectly on the entry table. The 14 foot canoe was placed waiting to be filled with ice and libations.
The cake sat waiting to be assembled in the car... weighing over 35lbs and as beautiful and delicious as any wedding cake could ever be. Bruce had made the top 3 tiers of the wedding cake as traditional Scottish Fruitcake. Hannah made the 14" bottom tier of delicious gingery carrot cake. MaryEllen put it together (engineered it's construction) and dressed it with flowers from Lilac and Lily.
At about 10:30am (earlier than we had expected) the place was decked out and ready for us to leave to get ourselves all dolled up. All the ladies got ready at the Old Corner Inn with help from our friends Catherine and Sue doing our hair and makeup. The boys went off to get tarted up in their kilts and Prince Charlies (they forgot their boutonnieres until the pictures). The musicians, Barbara and Robert McOwen, played at the gazebo as the guests started to arrive. The kilted men and their piper escorted the groom down the aisle. Andrea sat with her mother and flower girl (Nia) in a car in the lot, chauffeured by Uncle Allen. The bridesmaids, Hannah, Cathy and Emily, waited at the top of the hill for their bride, while Aunty Judy orchestrated a perfect processional. The bride and her mother, Joany, hiccuped with laughter and tears as they walked down the aisle. The guests smiled and cheered. Their murmurs encouraging and whispering loving words as we passed. Joany proudly passed Andrea to Bruce, the handsome groom. Flanked by the friends, family, and a sparkling ocean, we stood hand in hand to share our love with the world.
The ceremony, held by MaryEllen, was perfect and poignant. The piper led the recessional while the guests blew bubbles as we passed. Husband and wife, man and woman, lovers and friends, we are so lucky. We are so loved...
